Despues de algun tiempo en que no dejabamos discos a disposición, empezamos con la revisión en forma regresiva de los mejores 100 discos de la historia, según el prestigioso canal de musica VH1.
100 – The Flaming Lips – The Soft Bulletin (1999)
The soft bulletin es el noveno disco de Flaming Lips, para cuando lo sacaron ya tenian 16 años en la escena musical norteamericana en la que habian tenido... ehhh bueno solo un éxito comercial algunos años atras. A eso yo le llamo perseverancia. Ahi donde la mayoria de bandas espera cierto suceso hasta el tercer disco, quizá hasta el quinto, los Flaming quizá nunca lo esperaron, y aqui la excusa de la independencia a la popularidad masiva no cuenta porque son 16 putos años y 9 discos!
Al fin con este noveno disco, llegó un relativo éxito en ventas, el cual se engrandeceria mas con el álbum venidero tres años después, presentando en ambos trabajos un estilo muy peculiar de hacer pop rock. En realidad The soft bulletin y Yoshimi battles the pink robots son casi 2 caras de la misma moneda, y podrían haber constituido ambos un disco doble.
